I'm a little boy with glasses
The one they call the geek
A little girl who never smiles
'Cause I've got braces on my teeth
And I know how it feels
To cry myself to sleep
I'm that kid on every playground
Who's always chosen last
A single teenage mother
Tryin' to overcome my past
You don't have to be my friend
But is it too much to ask
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm the cripple on the corner
You've passed me on the street
And I wouldn't be out here beggin'
If I had enough to eat
And don't think I don't notice
That our eyes never meet
I lost my wife and little boy when
Someone cross that yellow line
The day we laid them in the ground
Is the day I lost my mind
And right now I'm down to holdin'
This little cardboard sign...so
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me
I'm fat, I'm thin, I'm short, I'm tall
I'm deaf, I'm blind, hey, aren't we all
Don't laugh at me
Don't call me names
Don't get your pleasure from my pain
In God's eyes we're all the same
Someday we'll all have perfect wings
Don't laugh at me

What a sweet, heartbreaking poem.
It sounds like it covers everyone at some point in their life.
"Be kinder than necessary, everyone is fighting their own battle."
I've loved this song ever since I saw Mark perform it a few years back on Extreme Makeover Home Edition for a very special family! I choke up everytime I hear it. The little girl he sang it for gave him the biggest hug after.. it was cool.
Well sung Tara! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!Smiles~Tam!

Aww, you're going to make me cry. Thanks for sharing this. I've never seen it before.
I love this song. It's so true. I think everyone's been laughed at at least once in their life. It's something I think everyone can relate to.
This song makes me cry everytime I hear it.
It's message is one that we can all relate to and reminds us to practice random acts of kindness everyday.
Love one another and look past differences because are all God's children.
I had forgotten about that song. It really is touching isn't it?
Thanks for sharing it.
This is actually one of my favorite songs! The truth of it rings true for me...and I'm sure for everyone else, too. We all have unique things about us...don't judge and for sure, don't laugh at me!
Wonderful Post! Keep up the great work you do, Tara!
