If you didn't catch this week's kidz story, Tiptoeing Through the Tulips, you're definitely going to want to go here. And even if you already read it once, you might want to hit it again. It's that good.

So..... this week has been super busy for my family and I'm sure we're not alone in that. The holidays are filled with parties and get-togethers and so many fun (and not-so-fun) things to do. But sometimes it's best to just stay home with the fam and enjoy being together.

And what better to serve up during the holiday season than
warm gingerbread waffles
....with hot chocolate sauce
Your mouth is watering, right?

Allrecipes.com shows you how to take it from a mouth-watering idea
to a real-live tantalizing treat.

Here are some fun ideas for sweet treats..... because you can never have too many of those during the holidays!

Nutter Butter Snowmen

Delish and fun for the kiddos to decorate!
What's not to love?

Taste of Home gives the 411 on these scrumptious bites.

Christmas Tree with Snow Cake

I shrieked with excitement when I saw this beauty for the first time.

The subtitle was: Very easy and just a few ingredients needed!

That's right up my alley!

Firefly shop gives the details here.

Okay, enough with the eating already! We can do things together as a family other than eat, right? Right. If you're lucky enough to have a white Christmas (you'd think I would in Utah, but not this year - so far), then this is the family craft for you....

Snowman Snow Gauge

I know, right? Practical, darling, and easy to make. Perfect.

BHG Crafts tells you how.

If you're unlucky in snow, like us, you can create a similar effect with paper snowflakes. Now, I know what you're thinking:

'Well, that's not a new or creative idea.
We've made paper snowflakes before.
'

Well, that might be true, but if you haven't made paper snowflakes with the help of papersnowflakes.com, then you haven't had the full experience.

You can make some of the simple, first step patterns, like this:

OR you can go wild and crazy with some of the more complex stencil patterns, like this 3D jewel:

For all things paper snowflakes (games, patterns, templates and more), just click here.

Now that you're done with all that eating and crafting, it's time to settle down a bit, and read a nice

Christmas story.

Here are two of my favorites:

What's your family's favorite Christmas story?

Remember, each comment is an entry into the drawing for this week's giveaway. Which is....

a PediEgg.

Here's the honest truth. I had heard from one person that the PediEgg was good for your feet, so when I saw them on sale, I grabbed one for the giveaway. I never knew this would be such a popular decision. Y'all LOVE the PediEgg. So comment, comment, comment, and you can be in the runnings to get one!

Don't forget....

to stop by Nana's Kitchen for some Christmastime recipes,
amongst other silly Nana things. ;O)

Enjoy!

Good ideas! This isn't my favorite story but it is darn cute. I read it last Christmas Eve (during the blizzard of 2007, you guys couldn't get to my house.)Anyway, it's "Snowmen At Christmas" The kids loved it, and we do have snow, and the forecast calls for snow from Saturday to Tuesday. Gosh Tara get out once in awhile.

Thank you, Tara for all the great holiday idea. I can't wait to make the beautiful tree, the boys will be thrilled, they love to bake.
I think I will have to pass on the snow gauge here in Los Angeles, but so adorable.

Thank you for the book titles. I had never read Why Christmas Trees Aren't Perfect before. Brought tears to my eyes. Will have to order that one. :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, we are in for a nasty winter storm up here in Calgary, Canada. Nice weekend to watch movies and drink hot chocolate!

I love the ideas, I will have to try a few when the shopping gets done!:) My favorite books are The Polar Express, Mr. Finnegan's Giving Chest, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas, but we love books and that might change depending on what new jems we find this year!! My fingers are crossed for snow this weekend!

WOW, those gingerbread waffles sound soooo good!! Thanks Tara I'm defiantly going to try those. And I had totally forgotten about making paper snowflakes. I think that would be something fun to do with my kids. Our new house has a huge picture window in the front room.

Mmmmm...hot chocolate! My family's favorite Christmas story is "The Cajun Night Before Christmas" by Trosclair. It's so great. The first line reads: "Twas de night before Christmas An' all t'ru de house Dey don't a t'ing pass Not even a mouse." Priceless! Cajun accent is definitely required, though!

I love the christmas tree with snow cake. I can't wait to try it out later this week after I finish up with finals. It is so cute, and I'm sure i could shock my family with it since I completely lack the domestic gene all the other women in my family seem to have.

Thanks for all the great links! i hope you had a great week!
