When I first heard the phrase special needs in reference to my daughter, a dear friend sent this scripture to me. These words were exactly what I needed during that time.

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

I have seen the truth of these words come to fruition. I have seen how the "imperfections," "weaknesses," and "infirmities" in my daughter have brought a unique and immense strength to our lives through the atonement of Christ and the love of the Lord. It is an eternal gift.
